The Hodgin family moved to Cherry Creek in May of 1997. We had no previous farm experience, just
a desire for a simpler life. I didn’t realize at the time, the power pole along the drive with an
overhead street lamp, would never receive power. For years I looked at the lack of grid powered
electricity as a hardship. It has taken some time but I no longer think of us as not having
electricity. We continue to work toward being fully self sustained.
